We Are Your Neighbors

HIV/AIDS is not just a concept, a vague illness that “other people” get. HIV/AIDS strikes everywhere, at any time. Our clients paint a broad brushstroke within the vibrant painting that is our community here in Forsyth and the surrounding counties. They represent all ages, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds. They live with husbands, wives, parents, partners, children, friends, alone. Some have no homes at all. Some are very ill suffering from AIDS, some are non-progressors. Many fall somewhere in between and have good days as well as not-so-good days.

Too often we judge others based upon the current chapter in their lives. We each live richly illustrated stories with many chapters. Knowing each others’ stories help us build relationships within our community. Relating to those stories help us understand that we are not just our illnesses. We were each led along a path, and we each have places yet to go. Visit here monthly to read further into the lives of our clients living with HIV.

These are your neighbors. We are your neighbors.

We might even be you.
